The project provides technical assistance to neighborhood associations who wish to produce a neighborhood atlas.
Benefits to neighborhoods from a neighborhood atlas
The process is a significant opportunity for residents to engage more deeply with their neighborhood association and with each other.
An atlas can help neighborhoods visualize current conditions in the area, including:
- boundaries, districts, census blocks; demographic data;
- zoning designations, street networks, open space amenities;
- neighborhood character, cultural heritage, elements that support livability;
- areas the neighborhood wishes to designate for study, protection, or improvement
An atlas can help the neighborhood lead and sustain conversations about neighborhood issues, among its residents and with external parties, including city government and developers.
Plenum is currently working with a few Chattanooga neighborhood associations. If your neighborhood is interested in joining the atlas project, please contact us at email@example.com.
